How do we encourage young people to consider working locally? The School to Work Forum saw Schools, TAFE, Students, Industry, Local Government and Employers come together to kick start the conversation.

Engaging Students and Schools with your Organisation.
Engaging with young people in the region is key to building your future workforce. The Frankston Mornington Peninsula LLEN are the front door to connecting your organisation to schools and students through a broad range of initiatives, activities and events.
Expos
FMP Industry Expo or individual school expos.
Options to be an exhibitor, guest speaker or panellist or hands-on experiences.
Targeted audiences – Years 10, 11 and 12 students, Parents as well as younger year levels – Career exploration, Try a Trade events.
FMP Industry Expo – Our biggest event on the calendar held at Mornington Racecourse. More than 1,600 local senior secondary students and 100 exhibitors come together to do a deep dive into career opportunities in the FMP region.

Key Events

Peninsula Applied Learning Awards – Held at Mornington Racecourse and attended by over 200 students, parents, principals from 29 schools in our region, Local Government, councillors, board members and stakeholders.
Work Placements
There are a number of ways you can introduce young people into your organisation:
Work Experience – usually a one week block for students at Year 10 level who are exploring the world of work.
Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) – placements are usually on day per week and are aligned with the student’s VET course where they apply what is learnt at TAFE in the real workplace.
School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeships (SBAT) – students can enter an apprenticeship with you while completing their senior secondary school certificate.

Mock Interviews
Participate in mock interviews with students at schools or online.
Allows students to practice their interview skills while also providing your employees with the opportunity to meet with young people and give meaningful and constructive feedback.
Industry Tours
Provide tours of your organisation to students or key school staff such as Career Practitioners and VET Co-ordinators giving them a more enriched and comprehensive understanding of your organisation, what you do and what career pathways are on offer to young people.
Industry Roundtables
Have a say and shape future pathways for young people in our region by participating in industry round tables. The Frankston Mornington Peninsula LLEN can broker partnerships with key stakeholders in our region across education, industry and local government.
Guest Speaker
A variety of ways and opportunities for your organisation to get in front of students and schools. Including:
Face-to-face presentations with students at schools.
Student and parent information events.
Presentations to key staff at our Association meetings.
Webinars to multiple audiences.
